As part of the ongoing series of “Cultural Tuesdays” at the School of International Relations, Dr.Ezzatollah Hemmati, the esteemed Director of the Borders Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a lecture on “Legal Affairs of the Borders of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Emphasizing the historical continuity and significance of Iran’s borders, he reviewed the most important border treaties in the history of the country’s foreign relations, the extensive efforts undertaken to consolidate and safeguard the borders and the current challenges in Iran’s border relations with neighboring countries. Dr. Hemmati also referred to the historical formation of Iran’s borders and introduced the country’s key and strategic border crossings, explaining to the students a number of the responsibilities and activities of the Department of Legal Affairs of Borders. At the end of the session, students of the School raised their questions, which the distinguished speaker answered in detail.
